The Path
The Path
Description
Fagarasan from the Shone area, the artist makes a significant statement, captured in the album coordinated by Liviu Oprescu: “I spin endlessly / On the spiral around my village. / The wooden horse has died / Somewhere in an instant, / But not before / Teaching me to run...” The infinite Transylvanian landscape repeatedly incarnates in Stefan Calția’s landscape art, transforming chameleon-like from green forests into exotic sunsets or winding roads. The artist prefers to lead the viewer to suspect the meaningful message behind the image, with symbolism resonating down to the smallest details, from color palette to title or even the complete absence of human figures. The landscape, nature itself, becomes characters. The sovereign on the canvas is the sky, which determines the manifestation of pictoriality. Beneath the fluffy leaden clouds, the scene unfolds before our eyes, that “spirit of the place,” captured somewhere between chance and serene contemplation. (IC)
