Album of Engravings: "Il teatro d'ercolano. Author: Piranesi Francesco (1758/9 - 1810)". Contains a total of ten engraved plates: a frontispiece engraved plate with the author's dedication to King Gustav III, inscribed: "IL. TEATRO. D'. ERCOLANO / ALLA. MAESTA. DI. GUSTAVO. III / RE. DI. SVEZIA. &c &c &c / PROMOTORE. MUNIFICENTISSIMO / DELLE. BELLE. ARTI / FRANCESCO Piranesi. architect / HUMBLE. AND. DEDICATES"; below the frame: "Francesco Piranesi inv. ed incise 1783"; a text page: INTRODUCTION TO THE INDEX OF THE ICONOGRAPHIC PLATES OF ERCOLANO; 9 engraved plates numbered I-IX. All plates used for printing the plates have been retouched. The 10 engraved plates are large in size, printed on two pieces of paper glued together.
