patinated bronze, 70 x 30 x 13 cm, signed on the reverse, "Ion Irimescu"

A master of expressive forms, through which he sought to embody the meaning and the essential, Ion Irimescu will be the creator of a rich body of work, tackling a multitude of artistic genres in the course of his creation. The portrait, composition, monumental art or drawing will become means by which the sculptor will draw close to life, thus managing to enfold social phenomena, ideas or actions through his art. The statuary composition comprises a broad range of themes, as the sculptor has in view themes such as: The legend, the myth, biblical aspects, music, the social, the political, that will be a substitute for the contemporary. He will remain connected to the figurative and the liberty that this will offer him in terms of plastic organization, heading towards a simplification of the study of the forms. Generously inscribed in space, the forms will bear the mark of new visions, suggesting the idea and symbol, the new and contemporary, revealing new ways of expressing life, the man, the world or the inner self.
