He studied at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts, in Liège, Belgium, and on 17 February 1920 he was admitted in the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts of Paris. His professor was the painter François Flameng, known for illustrating the first French banknotes, with whom he studied for two years, while being enrolled in the Ranson Academy, as well. In Romania, he had exhibitions between 1930 and 1933 at the Official Drawing and Graphics Salons on various themes including studies, landscapes and portraits. Although he never had an exhibition in Paris, the French State bought one of his self-portraits, which is now at the Musée National d'Art Contemporain.
