In the slightly recessed nave of the icon, on a gold-yellow background at the top and green at the bottom, two standing saints are depicted. The first one, to the left, is dressed in a white tunic and a red-brown mantle, under which one can see the golden stole, embroidered with geometric motifs. With one veiled hand, he holds the Gospel and with the other, the martyr's cross. Next to him, in the same pose, is depicted Saint Athanasius the Great, in a white tunic, golden stole, red under tunic, raspberry-red mantle, and white palladium with black crosses. In his left hand, he holds the Gospel and with his right, he blesses. The typology of the faces and their model are characteristic of the Russian school of painting: the elongated oval of the faces, straight nose, and strongly outlined and expressive eyes are close to the root of the nose. The hair and beard are shaped in fine, thin strands. The folds of the garments are created with great virtuosity, in shades lighter or darker of the same color.
