Ucenic al ?colii futuriste, care l-a animat cu putere la simbol, artistul Marcel Iancu este creatorul unei opere puternic expresive. Activitatea proeminenta din preajma periodicelor de avangarda locale („Contimporanul”), cât ?i interna?ionale („Zenit”, „Merz”, „Tank”, „Blok”, „Disk”, „Index”, „Der Sturm”), precum ?i activitatea din cadrul gruparilor „Das Neue Leben”, „Les artistes radicaux” sau „Orizonturi noi”, ne dezvaluie un artist idealist, aspirant la o redefinire a rolului artistului în societate.
