Founded in 1854, with a history of over 150 years, the Louis Vuitton brand is one of the most well-known and beloved creators of luxury leather items. In 1858, Louis Vuitton created his first case from grey Trianon canvas, the first luggage with flat top and bottom, easy to store and transport. To protect his creations from copies, Vuitton, in 1872, replaced the Trianon canvas with red and white striped canvas, and later, in 1876, with beige and brown striped canvas. To avoid imitations even more, in 1888 the checkerboard Damier canvas was introduced. From 1896, the famous LV monogram model appeared, still used today. Thanks to his talent, Louis Vuitton became in 1853 the supplier of Empress Eugenie de Montijo, the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. Clearly, Louis Vuitton continues to perpetuate the ambitious vision of his namesake, who will forever be an innovator and visionary. His extraordinary legacy includes a priceless savoir-faire that is seen in everything the brand does today.
