The Romanian humanist Nicolaus Olahus (1493-1568) was a high hierarch of the Catholic Church in Hungary, Archbishop of Esztergom, author of numerous works about the Transylvanian Romanians, the best known of which is this one. The work was printed in the ‘Ioannis Thomae Trattner’ workshop in Vienna The format is in 8º, with 14 unnumbered pages containing a preface, the royal privilege and a letter from the author to the reader (dated 1536 in Brussels) and 258 pages numbered with Arabic numerals, comprising two parts ‘Hungary’ and ‘Attila’. Features typographic elements representing the printer's mark, initials, frontispieces, and end vignettes, geometrically decorated. Late 18th century binding, leather on cardboard, on the spine 6 registers decorated in gold with the author's name and geometric elements.
