"Collecting Now". Postmodern and Contemporary Art Auction #658/2026

What's next in contemporary art? Will pixels replace the aesthetic experience of contemplating a painting or a sculpture? Will materiality and volumetry become obsolete compared to immersive and multisensory works? The "Collecting Now" auction proposes a reflection on the hermeneutics of contemporary art, illustrating the phenomenon of collecting as a personal choice, a desire to live surrounded by works that tell a story. The smell of acrylic colors, the fragility of charcoal, the hardness of stone, or the softness of wood, all these elements represent aspects that can never be replaced by artificial intelligence and its intrusion in the creative process. "Collecting Now" is an invitation to all those who wish to form a collection, through inspired choices at the right moment. Thus, a selection of works by artists such as Mi Kafchin, Mircea Suciu, Felix Aftene, Ștefan Câlția, Corneliu Baba, or Ion Țuculescu, awaits to be discovered at the Cesianu-Racoviță Palace.
