Sabin Bălașa's primary source of inspiration can be identified in a childhood spent in the middle of nature, dominated by blue skies. The artist grew up surrounded by culture, by the Italian Renaissance and by ancient Egypt. He built his own plastic grammar and chose blue as his main muse. His blue originates from our national myths, beliefs and culture. Bălașa's chromatic includes divinity, the cosmos, and the union between the terrestrial and the celestial dimensions. The constellations of his imagination transpose themselves into meetings of hybrid beings, partially humanized. The artist captures his characters as nudes, without anything artificial, during their youth. He places the primordial couple in the infinite blue desert and sketches the contour of a window that is open to the universe. He breaks the fourth wall and adheres to theatrical and rhetoric conventions. A visionary with philosophical abilities, Bălașa becomes the representative of cosmic romanticism by using meditative and poetic metaphors. The semiotics of his plastic language is understood as a projection of his inner world, where myths, symbols and muses coexist in an atemporal utopia.
