Dorinel Munteanu is part of the "Golden Generation" of the Romanian national football team, alongside other renowned players like Gică Hagi or Gică Popescu. He plays two seasons for Dinamo Bucharest, one of the most awarded football clubs in Romania, being part of the 1991-1992 season, which is a special one for Dinamo, as the team managed to win the championship without any defeat. Dorinel contributes to the winning of the title, scoring 12 goals in 33 matches. In 1993, Munteanu leaves the country and starts collaborating with Cercle Brugge. In his first season abroad he is named "the best player in Belgium".
