Obverse legend: IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P Reverse legend: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI On the obverse of the coin is represented the bust of Emperor Trajan, oriented to the right with a laurel crown, next to the abbreviated Latin phrase meaning "Emperor, Caesar, Nervae Trajan Augustus, Germanicus, Dacicus, Pontifex Maximus, Tribunician Power, Fifth Consul, Father of the Fatherland", while on the reverse it reflects the figure of a grieving Dacian, after losing the battle, by a Dacian falx and surrounded by the inscription "The Senate and the Roman People to the Optimum Prince".
