Eugen Taru (1913-1991) was one of the most talented and prolific illustrative artists, creator of posters, political cartoons, book illustration and comics. Trained as an architect, and exceptionally valuable as an artist, he made a mark as early as the 1940s only to become one of the most active creators of political satire focusing on criticism of western countries and especially of the United States of America in the conditions of the establishment of the communist regime in Romania and the outbreak of the Cold War in the 1950s. In the 1960s and 70s, he focused mainly on children's book illustrations, comics and commercial posters. The presented piece is signed in print in the upper left corner and was printed at the "Eminescu" typography in Bucharest.
