The German cosmographer and cartographer Samuel Münster (1488-1552), professor at the University of Basel, created his famous work "Cosmographia", first published in 1544. The work had 24 editions until the end of the 18th century. The present copy is part of an edition that appeared in the middle of the 18th century. This is a manually colored copper engraving after printing.
