Karl Kaufmann is recognized as one of the artists who used many pseudonyms, this fact even becoming one of the features of his creation. He signed with both Italian and German names, a few examples being: Leo Perla, Carlo, C. von Erlach, Henri Carnier, J. Holmstedt, Charles Marchand, J. Rollin, Carl Apati Hanka, Charles Kaufmann, A. Hofmann, P. Toretti and many others.
