The piece features cherry veneer on the front and on the sides. Bronze figurines - soldiers armed with shields, bows and spears - adorn the sides next to the upper central drawer. In addition, two semi-solid columns with brass column heads and base plates enframe the writing pad and the lower doors. Moreover, the piece features plenty of storage space behind the two lower doors. The central part of the secrétaire is equipped with a with a writing pad-support. The interior includes four smaller drawers and an open compartment with two small columns enframing it. The original navy felt cover provides a decorative background for the writing surface. The secrétaire cabinet is finished and polished. The state of preservation is very good, with the expected wear of a 200-year-old piece. It still features its original locks, which have been restored. Two of the four interior small drawers initially featured key locks. However, they have been removed at some point and the keyholes have been covered.
