Awarded to all Romanian troops who served during the First World War, the Commemorative Cross was established by King Ferdinand I on June 8, 1918 and on its dark blue and green moiré ribbon includes staps which symbolize the major battles areas in which the medal bearer participated. Made of a black iron cross with slightly pointed tips, the obverse includes the cipher of King Ferdinand I inscribed in the central part, while the reverse shows the years of Romania's participation in the Great War, 1916 - 1918. The specific ribbon of Mărășești summer battle of 1917 is attached to the decoration ribbon.
