On the obverse, centrally placed, is the new building of the Manufacture, next to the 3-line legend "Weapons Manufacture" and the coat of arms of the United Principalities. The reverse shows the inscription Weapons Manufacture/*/Romania/ Founded during the reign of / Alessandru Ioan io/ As Minister of Resbel / General Joan Emanoil Florescu / Year 1863 month of June'', the medal being made by the French engraver Auguste Claqué. The initiative to establish the Manufacture belongs to General Florescu, who, following the Union of Principalities, admitted the need to centralize the production of ammunition, to replace the pre-existing workshops in Moldova and Muntenia.
