Obverse legend: DN CONSTANTINUS PP AV Obverse description: Circular legend on the edge, interrupted in two places by the bust of the emperor, depicted frontally, with a long beard and mustache. He is depicted wearing a Crusader's diadem and chlamys fastened with a fibula on his right shoulder, holding a globus cruciger in his right hand. Reverse legend: VICTORIA - AVςЧ H / CONOB Reverse Description: Circular legend on the edge, with the mint mark in exergue. Centrally, a strong cross on a three-step podium. It is a numismatic document of special historical value for the research of Byzantine minting during the Heraclian dynasty, the coin being illustrative for the late phase of Constans II's mint, where he is depicted as elderly, with a long beard. It is a period when Constantinopolitan engravers are trying to get as close as possible to the real portraits of the emperors. Also, it is an important piece for understanding the classification of the gold emissions of Emperor Constans II, which differ depending on the way the sovereign is depicted.
