The work probably represents the most important opera of the enlightened scholar, Greek-Catholic cleric and historian Petru Maior (1756-1821), in which he provides arguments for building a national identity of the Romanians in the Habsburg Empire. The attached exemplar is complete, formatted in 4º, having (2) f.+348 pages, numbered in Latin characters. The book features typographic ornaments, namely initial and final vignettes. The footnotes are written in Latin characters. The volume has 29 full-page lines and a 17 x 14 cm text block. The binding is bibliophile, contemporary, made of cardboard covered in brown leather, with a vegetal design on covers 1 and 4. The spine is divided into 6 sections and preserves the author's name, title and year written in gold. The first 2 sheets at the beginning of the book, before the title page, preserve handwritten notes, most likely dating from the end of the 19th century. The state of preservation is relatively good, showing signs of paper discoloration.
