40. Forest Bedstraw [1982]

Ștefan Bertalan takes models and variations from his immediate vicinity, which he meticulously transcribes onto his work surface. Galium Sylvaticum, also known as "forest sanziana", becomes the central subject of a work created by the artist in 1982; but flora and fauna will constitute a self-contained cycle in the artist's graphic work. At the time of the creation of this artwork, Ștefan Bertalan was already settled in Timișoara. His plastic language will sometimes take a cinematic or photographic form, and his ambitions will also extend to the field of pedagogy. Among the notable experiences of his career include co-founding two groups dedicated to experimental art: "111" and "Sigma".
