Discreet, solemn and full of meaning, Constantin Piliuță's work will be the continuation of the great tradition of national lyricism, which the artist will treat with a lively élan. Possessed of a sure and focused drawing skill, the artist will construct a world composed of familiar fragments, demonstrating a sure intuition about the meanings of modest subjects. Alongside landscapes, portraits and compositions, one of his favourite themes will be flowers, a preoccupation he will have had since his youth, showing a particular aptitude for capturing the ephemeral and the aesthetic. The theme of flowers will stand out by the proposed plastic novelty, as well as by the peculiarity of the tone, going beyond the usual conventionality. As far as chromaticism is concerned, it will stand as a testimony to his permanent attempts to synthesize and renew pictorial expression, which over time became the motto of his creation. (G.M.)
