Often described as a "colourist", Alexandru Ciucurencu considers himself a follower of painters who also paid particular attention to colour: Luchian, Ressu, Lhote and Pallady. Over time, Ciucurencu's paintings have occurred in the possession of famous collectors, including: Zambaccian, Dona, G. Avachian, Eng. Laserson. In time, the artist would also paint portraits of these art collectors. Ciucurencu's merits are acknowledged through the awards he was granted at the Official Salons organised on an annual basis in the capital city. Although he does not take part in every edition of the Official Salon, Ciucurencu exhibits regularly. Beginning with 1945, Alexandru Ciucurencu also takes on the role of pedagogue at the School of Fine Arts inaugurated in Bucharest, where he would teach painting. His position of pedagogue brings him a fresh series of accolades, both from his students, as well as from his colleagues. His paintings are displayed on the boards of international galleries and museums (exhibited in France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria), thus drawing the attention of international critics to Romanian art. The "still nature" found here is rather abstract in nature, with the objects that make up the work being more implied than rendered. The painting displays a vase with flowers, with wildflowers, poppies, or bluebells distinguishable among them. Just like the objects, the colours are mostly faded and difficult to discern. Apart from the vivid colours used to depict the flowers, the rest of the work is wrapped in shades of black and grey. The centre of gravity of the painting is therefore enveloped in dull hues, which contrast with the vibrant blues, reds and yellows of the focal point.
