The letters first appeared in the pages of the Convorbiri Literare magazine. In 1884 (Romanian Academy Typography, Bucharest) the first 16 letters were gathered into a volume, representing a fundamental epistolary collection, which offers a lively chronicle, in novel-style, of the Romanian social, political and cultural realities of the 19th century, describing past epochs through direct and passionate memories, as a first-hand testimony about the transformations of the Romanian Principalities. The item's binding is from the interwar period. The original cover is preserved.
