Calistrat Hogaș (1847-1917) published in Iași in 1914 the second edition of this work which had brought him national recognition. The copy includes: at the beginning a handwritten letter, dated and signed by the author, for the literary critic and University Professor Mihail Dragomirescu, a vintage postcard with Hogaș as Director of the Piatra Neamț boarding school, numerous handwritten interventions made on the printed text by the literary critic Șerban Cioculescu, and at the end a reading card and a manuscript of Hogaș copied from the original by the critic. The binding of the volume is cloth-covered cardboard with leather edge.
