The child Grigore Pișculescu, the later writer Gala Galaction, was vaccinated on April 15, 1880, aged one, in his birthplace, Didești commune in Teleorman county. This document is the vaccination certificate, with the letterhead and stamp of the General Directorate of the Health Service and the handwritten signature of the chief physician of Teleorman County. The vaccination had gone easily in both arms. Vaccination was a compulsory operation, both in urban and rural areas, starting in 1874 on the basis of the General Law of the Health Service, the first law that laid the foundations of a public health system in Romania. The item is in a very good state of preservation.
