From the very beginning of his art, Octav Băncilă offered people an extremely generous manifestation space, and, although he did not take over the human subject in the years he had spent at the Iași School of Fine Arts, around Professors Panaiteanu-Bardasare and C.D.Stahi, he was surely influenced in that direction by the atmosphere he encountered in Munich, where he completed his studies in 1898. Băncilă's fame would define itself at the end of the first decade of the 20th Century, when, in 1909, during a department teaching contest at the Bucharest School of Fine Arts, he presented the "1907" cycle at the Romanian Athenaeum. Although this cycle would remain singular, the social nature of his creation was just being moulded, the peasant becoming the main player of his ulterior creations. The countryside theme, present in Băncilă's painting would be structured on the idea of Sămănătorism literature (Romanian ideologic and literary movement of the early 20th Century), which considered that "the village is the only origin of the Romanian soul)
