Identifying elements of iconographic and stylistic order: The icon is a holiday display and was part of an iconostasis frieze, of which seven are preserved in the collection. The compositional scheme of the Lord's Resurrection in the form of Jesus Christ's Descent into Hell is reduced to essential elements and is strictly symmetrical. In the line of symmetry, Jesus steps on the shattered gates of Hell and raises Adam and Eve to life. Two rocky mountains are projected onto the blue background of the icon. Unlike the Dormition of the Mother of God and the following icons in the series, it seems that another painter worked here, especially visible in the modeling of faces and in the more constrained chromatic range. Identifying technical elements: The icon's wooden panel is made up of a single plank; it does not have a median crossbar. Conclusions: Overall, the composition and the entire execution of the painting of the icon fit in the transition period of Romanian painting (A.D.).
