Deși a abordat o tematică diversă, Bordenache a rămas cunoscut ca un excelent portretist, în special al celui feminin, fiind remarcat în epocă de N.N.Tonitza, în postura de critic. Bun desenator, așa cum o demonstrează o lucrare din 1920, pe când era student la Paris, în care anatomia modelului este realist surprinsă, Bordenache a abordat tema portretului concentrat asupra studiului fizionomiei și carac-
terului personajelor. Influențat de estetica impresionistă, a sublimat-o pe aceasta în portret, în subtile studii de lumină asupra formelor umane.
