oil on canvas, 70 x 115 cm, 70 × 115 cm, signed upper right, with red, "P. Capidan"

Part of the same generation as Ipolit Strâmbu, with whom he had in common the same versatility in approaching the various genres, as well as the same passion for rendering light, Pericle Capidan begins his art studies within the Bucharest School of Fine Arts. He would further pursue his studies within the Munich Academy, from where he would direct himself towards Paris, where he would study at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. Even though he would approach a broad array of genres, besides the recurring landscapes in his works, the artist would show a particular inclination towards interior compositions and show an interest in issues such as the nocturnal effect and the study of fuzzy lights, as well as in the decorative detail.
