This work belongs to the decade after the discovery of Balchik (1913), a moment in which the artist's palette experiences certain transcendences in the chromatic regime, obviously under the direct influence of the southern Dobrogea atmosphere - a fact universally true for most of the artists who discovered Balchik and the entire Silver Coast. In terms of seascape, Petrașcu is not only directed by the imaginary flow of Dobrogea, but the whole itinerary that the artist shapes following initiatory journeys is also known. Along with the cities on the shores of the Black Sea or Danube, Petrașcu will paint since the second decade of the last century in northern France (Roscoff, Saint Malo) or Italian marines (Venice and Chioggia) developing a true typology in the design, painting and aesthetic direction of these landscapes defined by the water environment.
