The biography of Răut shows us one of the representatives of the first generation of Romanian legal practitioners and diplomats, as he was one of the members of the first official Romanian delegations after 1918. A legal practitioner at the Romanian Secretariat at the Paris Peace Conference (1919), Răut had studied Law at the University of Iași and had been living in Paris since 1912, where he was awarded a PhD in Law. The status of Răut in the diplomacy of the 20th century is confirmed by his collaboration with Titulescu, as well as by the fact that he was a delegate of Romania at the International Labour Office in Geneva. As a manager of the Marmorosch-Blank Bank in Paris, Răut had the financial comfort necessary for collecting art objects, cultivating+AF89 his taste for fine and decorative arts. He expanded his circle of friends and acquaintances, being close to painters and other collectors, including Catul Bogdan, Jean Alexandru Steriadi or Lazăr Munteanu.
