A travelling painter, fellow countryman of Giovanni Schiavoni, Livaditti reached Moldavia perhaps in 1831-1832, as a political refugee, it seems, given his closeness to the ideas of the Carbonari, a movement repressed around 1831. Easily noticed among the elite of Iași, the painter had a fruitful career as a portraitist, becoming one of the most important painters of the mid-19th century in Moldavia and one of the most prolific ones, at least judging by the standards of that time.
