Thinking about this ancient myth about women's power of seduction, Liliana Basarab underlines through these ceramic flowers shaped and glazed by her, the power women can wield against male, patriarchal domination. The rose - a symbol of shame, of lost virginity - becomes here power, as the thorns are meant to protect against rape, violence and abuse to which women are too often subjected in many ancient and modern cultures.
