A modern artist of the 20th and 21st centuries, Horia Damian has developed a rich artistic activity, mastered in various modes of expression - painting on canvas, sculpture, installations, and stained glass. He made his debut as an artist in 1942, at the Romanian Athenaeum, where he held his first solo exhibition, that year also marking his debut at the Official Salon (where he won the "Prize for Engraving") and at the Venice Biennale. After studying architecture in Bucharest, Horia Damian moved to Paris, where he worked in the studios of André Lhote (1946-1947) and Fernand Léger (1948-1949). In Paris, he exhibited for the first time in 1952 at the Arnaud Gallery, alongside André Enard, Ellsworth Kelly, Nicolas Ionesco, Charles Maussion, and others. Master of the fullness and completeness of compositional elements, colours, as well as a permanent inclination towards construction, his creation will venture into complex series, such as: "Reliefuri în suprafețe galbene" ("Reliefs in yellow surfaces"), "Porți" ("Gates"), "Tronuri" ("Thrones"), "Construcții" ("Constructions"), "Marile construcții" ("Great constructions"), "Piramidele" ("Pyramids"), "Galaxiile" ("Galaxies"), "Ceruri înstelate" ("Starry skies"), "Colina" ("Hill"), "Mastaba", "Semnele locului" ("Signs of place"), "Proiect pentru San Francisco" ("Project for San Francisco"), "Coloana" ("Column"), "Vestitorul" ("Harbinger") or "Revelația" ("Revelation").
