Itserialized Dimitrie Cantemir's famous work, "The Description of Moldavia", which was published separately in later volumes. The work was initially printed in the periodical as follows: in the first volume, between pages 537 and 574, and in the second volume, between pages 1-120. In the second volume, there was inserted, between the introduction numbered in roman numerals and the first page of the description, a map of Moldavia in the form of an engraving signed F.M. Rolfsem. "The Description of Moldavia" was edited by Cantemir, during his time at the Russian Imperial court, at the request of the Berlin Academy. The work is a valuable synthesis relating to the history, institutional organization, court and urban life of Moldavia, and the customs of the people of this country. It was translated into several languages, circulated throughout Europe, and earned the author well-deserved fame. The two copies are in good condition and their bindings are original.
