Adolf Stieler (February 26, 1775 – March 13, 1836) was a German cartographer and lawyer who worked the majority of his life at the Justus Perthes Geographic Institute in Gotha. Although he studied law and served in government for his entire career, he maintained his interest in cartography and published many famous works. His "Handatlas" was the most important German world atlas up until the middle of the 20th century.
