The "Coroana României" ("Crown of Romania") Order was established by King Carol I on the 14th of March 1881, after Romania was proclaimed a Kingdom. Crown of Romania The medal design project was accomplished by artist Theodor Aman. The Great Cross of the "Coroana României" ("Crown of Romania") Order has an ensign of 70 mm, clung to a scarf which must be worn on the right shoulder towards the left hip, and accompanied by a silver plate in the shape of a star with eight rays, of a 90 mm diameter, to which the Commander-sized cross is applied. The scarf is 100 mm wide (each of the two stripes on the sides being 20 mm wide) and equal in length to the torso's margin. The Great Cross rank can be worn only with a frock or a military ceremony attire. The Great Cross plate is worn on the left side of the chest, under the heart.
