The calendar of 1899 contains 8 pages and a cover painted with flower bouquets, which are different for each month Executed in the shape of a small notepad, it begins with a title page, decorated with wild flowers surrounding the number 1899: on the inside, it contains the Queen's written thoughts, holographic and autographed, in French. "Chaque chant sortant de mon coeur pur est à la louange de Dieu!" ("Each song that comes from my pure heart is a praise to God!") Each page of the calendar is painted in gouaches, representing specific floral motifs for the season of the featured month. In the calendar's frame, holidays are indicated in red. The 14th of July is marked as a tribute to Bastille Day. The item generously illustrates the Queen's artistic talent.
