Some of the Romanian intellectuals, such as Mircea Eliade and Emil Cioran, who supported Legionarism, also contributed to the newspaper "Cuvântul" ("The Word"). At its beginnings, the newspaper was a newspaper of cultural debate, then attached at the beginning of the 1930s to the political regime of King Carol II, so that at the end of the period it became a legionary publication. Published at the end of 1940, the almanac glorified the political regime in which power was held by General Ion Antonescu and the legionaries, who were responsible for drafting racial legislation that excluded Romanian Jews from public life and paved the way for the tragedy of the Holocaust in Romania.
