From January 1908 the artist Iser lived in Paris, at 8 Rue de la Grande Chaumière, then Rue Tourlaque, near the studio of artist André Derain. He attended the Ranson Free Academy, and also contributed to the satirical newspapers "Le Témoin" and "Le Rire", where he published humorous drawings for two consecutive years alongside Paul Iribe, Jules Pascin, Jean-Louis Forain, Demetrios Galanis, André Derain, André Dunoyer de Segonzac, Juan Gris and others. He was introduced to the European avant-garde movement within the artistic circle of Batteau-Lavoir by André Derain and Constantin Brâncuși. He would not break off his relations with the country, sending drawings for the periodicals "Viața literară și artistică" and "Revista celor l’alți", and he would also exhibit within events of "Tinerimea Artistică". Returning to the country in 1909, the artist brought with him for a group exhibition works by his comrades Derain, Forain and Galanis. The artist exhibited 103 works, including humorous drawings, genre scenes, landscapes of Paris and Trouville. Bringing fove aspirations into the Bucharest ambience, the exhibition will be received reluctantly. One work by Forain and two by Iser were to be sold. Unable to return to Paris, Iser will return the works to his colleagues. He will tour his own work around the country: Iasi (December 1909), Galati (December 30, 1909 - January 9, 1910) and Braila (January 9 - 15, 1910). (G.M.)
