The painting "View of Sozopol" is characteristic of the style of Bencho Obreshkov from the 1940s. The genre of still life, situated in an interior space, is one of the artist's favorites. Throughout his creative path, he creates still lifes in which he solves various plastic tasks, and the main objects in them are vases with flowers, fruits, and fish. The theme "Sozopol" is one of the main ones in the whole creativity of Bencho Obreshkov. Through the open balcony in the background, the calm sea is revealed, in which a single white sailboat floats, and the fishing boats stand on the shore. The composition is built in a rich and noble harmony, and the overall impression is bright, calm, and dreamy. The color is expressive, the brushstroke is free and bold. The motif with the colorful curtain is particularly characteristic of the author's compositions. The still life is proof of Obreshkov's ability to capture the ephemeral beauty of nature in an unstaged environment. The seascape, revealed through the open window, immerses us in the spirit of the coastal town from the second half of the 1940s, and the vase with flowers and scattered fruits on the table are characteristic and distinctive for the artist's compositions. The interior environment also takes us into the life of Bencho Obreshkov from his periods in Sozopol. A city that has been an inspiration for more than one Bulgarian creator. Ivan Nenov, Mario Zhekov, Alexander Mutafov, Pencho Balkanski, and others are just some of the names whose work reveals themes from the seaside town from the same period. (S.N.)
