85. Road to the mountain [1975]

The work of Dimitar Kazakov has always been the subject of great interest from the public and collectors in Bulgaria and abroad even during his lifetime. In state collections, the author is present mainly with representative works, purchased from his studio and solo exhibitions, which outline the real dimensions and scale of his art. For the most part, they were painted between 1970 and 1980 - the artist's strongest period, when he showed a number of solo exhibitions. The painting "Road to the Mountain" dates from this period and possesses all the best qualities of his painting. The theme, characters and picturesque qualities rank it among the representative works of Dimitar Kazakov - Nero. In terms of composition, the painting "Road to the Mountain" is an exception, which makes it unique from a collector's point of view. Placing the characters in profile against the background of a mountain landscape reminiscent of Melnik is a rare solution in Nero's paintings. (S.N.)
