From his travels around Germany and India in the late 20s and 30s of the last century, Boris Georgiev created some of his most vivid portraits - of Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, and especially those of Rabindranath Tagore, which exist in three versions. The portrait depicted in this lot is from 1929, including a dedication from the author to the seal engraver Sebastián Malz.
