His early work is marked by the appreciation of his predecessors' teachings and by expressing the nostalgia of his native land in his paintings. We are talking therefore about a purely figurative stage where we can hint, upon closer examination, the relaxed implementation which Mattis-Teutsch will perfect in his mature works. This will lead to thematic, stylistic, and even topical changes that will originate from symbolism with secessionist accents, pass through musical expressionism and stop near the Art Deco current. Starting with the second stage of his creation, we will encounter increasingly the figure of the worker, abstracted, with a stretched body, depicted in monumental postures. The artist will depict hard-working people, people caught in motion, with undulating bodies, bent, with feet portrayed in their full movement, hands raised, bent, or allowed to flow along the body. He will also focus on human physiognomy in sculpture, where he will work with prominent volumes, respecting certain proportions while also proposing new ones. He retains only a fraction of the human anatomy data in which he intervenes until he successfully completes his own vision. The current work portrays a naked female figure seen in profile, standing, with the magnificence of her imposing silhouette posing like a statue. The idea of movement is represented here by the bending of the knees, and the nudity of the body is subtly concealed through the use of the veil. The color palette is exuberant, the artist predominantly using shades of red, orange, ochre, and violet. The contrasts are rather warm, and they focus on the strongly represented shades and those that slowly fade into the secondary plan.
