Considered a successor of Andreescu, Grigorescu or Luchian, the artist embraces the transformations and particularities of everyday life and reflects them in his work. His expressive force will, however, surpass any suggestions coming from Romanian masters. From the Munich school, the artist adopts theoretical notions, technical peculiarities, and an appetite for realism, while from the benches of the Parisian school he will leave accompanied by the necessary notions for developing light plans and valuing the color palette. The beginnings of Steriadi's work are linked to large-scale painting, to the representation of scenes from everyday life and to the rendering of hustle and bustle in the ports he passes through. His painting language's expressiveness will be highly esteemed by the critique of the time. He will initiate and promote graphic salons and will also excel in this genre. The draftsman's brush blends melodiously with that of the painter and results in a unified artistic vision, which combines both painting and graphics. The winter landscape reveals a city plunged under a thick layer of snow. Streets, trees, and buildings begin to lose their initial colors and take on the evocative white of the snow. The draftsman's qualities are felt this time too, yet leaving the forefront to the artist's pictorial development.
