bronz, 34 x 16 x 20 cm, signed and dated on the back, "O. Han, 1933"

His creation manages to interconnect the styles that largely define the modern Romanian sculptural creation. Focused on the human figure, he created sculptures depicting representative figures of the rural space, as well as busts of important personalities such as: "Mihai Eminescu", "Sophocles" or "Dante". Starting under the influence of Dimitrie Paciurea, whom he has as a professor, Han will detach himself from his impressionist style and will find himself more in Bourdelle's creation. His style is noted for the rigor of the construction of the form, balanced bodies, clear volume, expressive force and transmission of emotion through attitude and expression. Regarding the present work which is dated 1933, the female character represents one of the most praised subjects made by the sculptor throughout his career. The Elegy is usually a nude or a female character with a clear concern for the compact and simplified form, usually sitting, with her legs drawn under the body or having a dreamy expression. Thus, the created character captures a large part of the sculptor's conception and realization qualities. The shape is tight and gathered in converging lines, the realization being simple and massive. Both in bust portraits and in compositions with characters, the artist uses realistic elements that are modeled in vigorous and expressive volumes.
