2PC. Purchase of a Learjet 35 aircraft for children's medical emergencies
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, many children who went to Europe for treatment or surgery have been stranded abroad, unable to return home due to flight restrictions. Those who needed to travel abroad for treatment that could not be performed in the country were left with no choice of transportation. Shortly after Romania entered the state of emergency, the Blondie Association received the first call: to bring home a 7-month-old child that had suffered several heart surgeries, from the most affected area of the globe, Milan. A few days later, on March 27, 2020, they managed to bring Darius and his family home by private plane. Since then, help has been requested for several children. In one year, they organized private flights for 91 children and 5 adults, and a ground ambulance transfer. In Romania, people who need treatment abroad can settle the payment by filling in the E112 form, but the transportation costs can't be settled, and very often the patient doesn't afford them. The latest statistical data show that in 2018, 684 people went abroad using the E112 form, approximately 2 people / day. Currently, Romania does not have an air ambulance to transport patients abroad, having a flight license only for domestic flights or in case of catastrophe involving Romanian citizens. After all the efforts made during the last year and realizing how important is for Romania to have an air ambulance, the Blondie Association decided to assume the purchase of an aircraft, turn it into an air ambulance, and give access to treatment to anyone who needs medical air transportation, free of charge.
