"The Sign Giving Society" was one of the first sporting societies in Romania, appearing towards the end of the reign of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza. It developed after 1866 during the reign of King Carol I. Initially a form of sociability for the male elite, it would soon open its doors to the middle and lower bourgeoisie due to the popularity it gained. The Society organized shooting competitions, raffles and other events which made it stand out in the capital. Its coat of arms was remarkable, accompanied by the society's title in German. The pieces have been well-preserved.
