Octav Minar, the literary pseudonym of Octav Popovici (8 November 1886 - 1967), studied Letters and Philosophy in Iaşi. He was a writer, a translator and a literary historian, a teacher and a lawyer. Minar wrote for many literary magazines of the time: "Convorbiri literare", "Luceafărul", "Tribuna", "Rampa", "Universul", "Adevărul literar", "Flacăra", "Dimineaţa", "Viaţa literară şi artistică". He was particularly interested in studying the life and works of Mihai Eminescu, leaving behind numerous books on the topic. He also made the first documentary about Mihai Eminescu, entitled "Eminescu, Veronica, Creangă", produced by the French company "PATHE FRERES PARIS" in 1914, 25 years after the death of the great poet.
